The Benefit of Not Feeling Attached To Outcomes

If you have children, you have probably read something at some point about how to raise a happy child. They all include the advice of “Love them unconditionally”.

No matter what our children do, love them beyond the behavior. Otherwise, our act of resentment will drag them down and hold them back in life.

Successful parenting always has components of forgiveness, adapting and letting go. Those are elements of unconditional love.

Happy adults

Now that we’re all grown up, the same can be said about how we approach our day.

We must embrace the day without too much attachment to outcome or expectation. For therein lies the ego and anxiety, waiting to trip us up.

Although planning is a valuable part of success, we also need to be grateful for what the day hands us.

If we get up every day and decide to live our lives as though we will be happy, unconditionally, then we will be much happier.

And then, like good parents do, when circumstances arise, we forgive ourselves and others, adapt and let go to move beyond with more ease and less scars.

So, love and live unconditionally.
